A friend of mine was visiting me from England. One of her tee-shirt catches my attention as there is a Millennium Falcon printed on it. (Well, yes, I should have first mention Star wars is one of my favourite things.)
It isn’t really that special originally until I notice Darth Vader is having this funny little hand that Lego man has. Wow, that is not a simple Star wars shirt but a Lego Star war shirt that has a Lego Darth Vader on it. That is the two thing I really like already on one single product.
I ask her if she design the tee herself, like photoshop-ing an image and print it on a tee-shirt. First, she is quite into computers and that kind of stuff. Second, I am asking that because her tee-shirt unlike the other Lego shirt I see in Wal-Mart is actually have some fine cutting and thick (nicer) fabric. It does have a feeling of custom made here.
She told me that this is Lego Wear from KABOOKI and they are fairly popular in the UK. I think it would be something my niece would like to have to I did some more research later on Lego Wear.
The hard truth that strikes me first is apparently they are not retail available in Canada. They have a large variety of selection (e.g. from pyjamas to ski jacket…) and they seem to be a better piece of clothing than a regular tee and they probably can survive the laundry machine.
The print on the tee is okay. I am not too exciting base on what I see from the website with exceptions of a few items only. They have rather limited amount of lego themes available (e.g. they don’t have many of the Lego Disney stuff and Super heros stuffs like Batman and Ironman.) And some of the clothing, while has good cutting and design, its print has nothing that I can associate with Lego.
Since they are not available in retail, I quickly check out what amazon and ebays have. Amazon didn’t offer much of a choice when I search for Lego Wear. Most of the result it found is clothing wear that has Lego theme in it.
That make sense but that aren’t anyhow helpful. One thing I do notice thou after having more impression of what Lego wear looks and other regular wear with lego prints looks like, is that indeed most of the clothing merchandise with Lego print on them has poor material (except Lego Wear). They are the fabrics that tend to shape shifting after a few washes. They are the fabrics that sadly tend to recycled as floor cloth at the end.
A similar search in ebay founds me what I want. And good news, they are very affordable. At the end I choose to buy a simple blue Bobba Fett Lego Wear for my niece (I know you may think I should go for Lego friends or Lego Elves, but trust me, she likes boys things more.) Looks like my sister in law is also happy about it and I can see from facebook that my niece wear it quite often this summer. If you have not had a chance to learn about Lego Wear.
